Good day of wrestling at the Blue's Invitational Wrestling Tournament today. The James River Knights had 4 individuals in the championship matches and came away with three champions, one second placer, two third placers, and two fourth place finishes. Brayden Forbes was name Outstanding Wrestler (OW) for the tournament for light weights! 106 - Xaiden Wynn - CHAMPION 106 - Caiden Martin - 3rd Place 106 - Silas Whitson - 4th Place 120 - Brayden Forbes - CHAMPION & OW 126 - Xander Carlough - 4th Place 138 - Nate Stewart - CHAMPION 144 - Efraim Echavarria - 3rd Place 190 - Jayden Burrell Alston - 2nd Place A triumphant day unfolded at the Blue's Invitational Wrestling Tournament, showcasing the exceptional prowess of the James River Knights. In the championship matches, four individuals from the team demonstrated outstanding skills, securing an impressive array of achievements. The team won with three champions, a second-place finisher, two third-place finishers, and two fourth-place finishers. Notably, Brayden Forbes earned the title of Outstanding Wrestler (OW) for the tournament in the lightweights category, adding a prestigious accolade to the team's success. The weight-class breakdown reflects the team's versatility and strength across various categories:

  • 106 lbs: Xaiden Wynn exhibited exceptional skill, emerging as the CHAMPION.

  • 106 lbs: Caiden Martin showcased resilience and secured a commendable 3rd Place.

  • 106 lbs: Silas Whitson displayed tenacity, earning a well-deserved 4th Place.

  • 120 lbs: Brayden Forbes not only claimed the CHAMPION title but also earned the distinction of Outstanding Wrestler (OW) for his remarkable performance in the light weights category.

  • 126 lbs: Xander Carlough demonstrated skill and determination, finishing in 4th Place.

  • 138 lbs: Nate Stewart asserted dominance in his weight class, emerging as the CHAMPION.

  • 144 lbs: Efraim Echavarria exhibited skill and finesse, securing a 3rd Place finish.

  • 190 lbs: Jayden Burrell Alston displayed strength and technique, earning a commendable 2nd Place.

The James River Knights showcased excellence, leaving an impression on the Blue's Invitational Wrestling Tournament. The team's achievements across various weight classes show their depth and skill, setting a promising tone for their success in the wrestling season.

Lord Botetourt Wrestlers Showcase Resilience and Determination in Recent Matches Last Saturday, the Lord Botetourt wrestling team demonstrated a commendable performance at the meet held at Wilson Memorial. Although they faced a challenging defeat against the defending 2A state champions, Strasburg (52-24), the team showcased their prowess with notable victories over 3A teams, Wilson Memorial (54-30) and Western Albemarle (48-20). Despite the loss against Strasburg, the team's resilience shone through in their triumphs over Wilson Memorial and Western Albemarle. Head coach Paul Craft emphasized the significance of these matches, stating they provided a valuable opportunity for the team to face an tough

opponent in the state and gain insights into potential 3A competitors they might encounter in February. Coach Craft praised the team's effort, urging them to give a 100% commitment and focus on the score during the matches. One remarkable observation made by the coaching staff was the team's superior conditioning compared to their opponents. Craft expressed his pride in the team's aggressive wrestling style and the substantial number of pins achieved. The emphasis on early-season conditioning proved to be a strategic investment, with Craft acknowledging the positive payoffs. As the wrestling season progresses, Lord Botetourt is gearing up for the upcoming Titan Toughman this Friday and Saturday. Coach Craft encourages the community to support the team by attending the matches. Despite acknowledging that the team is not yet in peak wrestling shape, Craft remains optimistic, noting that they are ahead of their competitors. Lord Botetourt's recent wrestling performance highlights their resilience, determination, and strategic focus on conditioning. As they gear up for the Titan Toughman, the team seeks the support of their community, and Coach Craft expresses confidence in their continued improvement throughout the season.
